A Summary of the Greatest Story Ever Told

The Bible can feel overwhelming — sixty-six books, more than forty authors, thousands of years of history, poetry, prophecy, and letters from ancient cities. It's easy to pick up a single story and have no idea where it belongs. But beneath all of it runs one thread: a God who refuses to give up on the people He made. Think of the Bible like a tree. Hand someone a single leaf and it's just a strange, flat, green thing. Show them the roots, the trunk, the branches, and suddenly the leaf belongs somewhere. This book is that bigger picture — a retelling of the whole story, from the first garden to the final garden city, that most people can read in four to six hours. It's written for two kinds of readers. If you already know many of these stories, you'll see them here as part of one unified story that gives each of them richer meaning. If you're coming to the Bible fresh, you'll see the beauty of the whole before you ever open it yourself. Because this isn't a replacement for the Bible. It's a map — something you read before the journey, not instead of it. The aim is simple: to leave you curious, and to help you see how the story relates to you. And it does relate to you. The same God who pursued Adam after he hid, who called Abraham out of comfort, who entered His own creation to take the punishment we deserved and walked out of a tomb to prove death isn't the end — that God is still pursuing. You're not watching this story from a distance. You're inside it. The invitation at the end of the Bible is still open. Come and see.

Ian Paddock is the author of “A Summary of the Greatest Story Ever Told,” a faith-focused book created to help people engage with the message of the gospel and the word of God. Based in the Greater Brisbane Area, Ian brings an unusual combination of Christian conviction, military aviation experience, technical instruction and defence-sector leadership to conversations about faith, meaning and purpose.

Ian grew up in Wisconsin in a Christian household and later took ownership of his faith as his own. He pursued a career in military aviation, attending the US Naval Academy, completing flight school and flying multiple aircraft for the US Navy. His career included combat deployments, simulator instruction, aircrew training and later defence work in Australia, where he has continued to work across capability, training and operational domains.

On podcasts, Ian can speak to Christianity in a grounded and accessible way, including how faith is understood, lived and passed on in a modern world. He is especially interested in reaching listeners who are already discussing Christianity, open to exploring it, or looking for purpose and meaning in life. His book was written so that it could be approached by younger readers, while early enthusiasm has also come from older readers who value clear, readable reflections on faith.
