Garry Cookson

Garry Cookson, a dedicated history aficionado from Lancaster, England, embarked on a lifelong journey fueled by an insatiable curiosity for the past. His early immersion in the soap opera of Kings and Queens, guided by the influence of his father and primary school teachers, set the stage for a profound interest in unraveling historical narratives. Venturing into the realm of education, Garry found himself teaching English in China.

Sparked by his passion and the inquisitive minds of his students, Garry turned to historical books, initially exploring the lives of monarchs but gradually expanding his scope to comprehend the broader tapestry of history. It was during this period that Garry began connecting the dots between seemingly disparate events, sparking a quest for an anchor that could tie centuries together.

For Garry, the evolution of the royal court emerged as this anchor—a consistent thread woven through the fabric of time. Monarchs, in his view, played a pivotal role in linking and contextualizing historical occurrences. His ability to seamlessly recall historical details and his passion for the subject led him not only to lecture in the city but also to share his wealth of knowledge beyond the classroom.

In his exploration, Garry discovered a gap in historical narratives—books often jumped from one event to another without providing the necessary links. This realization further fueled his commitment to understanding history as a continuum. His move to Asia not only broadened his geographical perspective but also deepened his appreciation for the role of history in comprehending the world today.

Garry's passion extends beyond personal enrichment; he actively imparts his knowledge to interested students, inspired by their encouragement to share his captivating stories. As he continues to explore the intricacies of history, Garry remains committed to uncovering the threads that connect the past, present, and future.
