About this book

Good ideas don't die of natural causes. They are far more likely to die on an average Tuesday. We have all been there, you know the moment. Someone floats an idea, heads nod, and you'd be forgiven for thinking everyone was on board, yet nobody asks who's actually doing this or what done even looks like. Progress, right? Or so it seems. In this short book, Amie Fox uses the everyday meeting to illustrate how well-intentioned behaviours in the workplace prevent progress. She explores simple adjustments to help people to master the art of accountability, enhance the effectiveness of communications and foster transparent and productive collaboration.Inside, you’ll see:Why nobody objecting isn't the same as everybody agreeingHow to name one owner without starting a small warWhy "I'll just say I've no update" is a confession, not a strategy Drawing on real world case studies from Google, Toyota, and Pixar, Amie showcases how three simple adjustments can lead to huge improvements in the workplace. These are: the Lock Moment, Single-Point Accountability, and the Return Date. Together they form what she calls the Minimum Viable Install, the smallest bit of structure a good idea needs to survive a working week. Why nobody objecting isn't the same as everybody agreeing Why nobody objecting isn't the same as everybody agreeing How to name one owner without starting a small war How to name one owner without starting a small war Why "I'll just say I've no update" is a confession, not a strategy Why "I'll just say I've no update" is a confession, not a strategy

Leadership Development Managing Director and Trainer for Manager Systems

15 years Communications, operations, training and leadership4 major organisations Speaking credits include One Young World and Trinity College DublinPublished author Mind the Blind Spot: Decision to DoneNon-executive director Vision Ireland

Amie Fox believes, and has seen first-hand, that when people feel good at work, they perform at their best. The problem is that most businesses have never actually defined what "good" looks like.

Amie is the founder of A Fox Consulting in Ireland, a trainer and keynote speaker who helps founders, HR and operations leaders engage, develop and retain their best people. The practice works across three areas: manager development for growing organisations, strategic communications and events, and community and social impact. Its core programme, FoxBuzz, is a bespoke system for developing managers that combines online learning, live workshops and group coaching, alongside two self-serve products, The Best Manager Toolkit and Present Like a Pro Toolkit.

She's also the author of Mind the Blind Spot: Decision to Done, on why good ideas fail through miscommunication rather than dying of natural causes. Legally blind since the age of eleven following a diagnosis of Stargardt's, she's experienced hidden barriers first-hand, and that insight sharpens how she helps leaders build workplaces where good people actually want to stay.

She has more than fifteen years in employee experience, corporate responsibility and disability inclusion, across pharma, retail and technology, and started A Fox Consulting because execution, not strategy, is where most plans fall flat and prevent organisations from scaling.
