About this episode
David Ray Fullmer moved 29 times before he turned 17, was homeless at 15, and grew up as one of thirteen children. He is now a roofing contractor working across 18 states, and the creator of a seven-day framework he calls Becoming Seven, or B7.
The premise is that you cannot hold every personal development principle at once, so you stop trying. You give each day of the week one attribute and let the week carry the load:
Motivation Monday: read your why
Tracking Tuesday: observe and correct your own thinking
Whisper Wednesday: silence, and listening to intuition
Thankful Thursday: gratitude, on purpose
Forgiveness Friday: put something down
Satisfaction Saturday: memories over hours
Supplication Sunday: submission and humility
In this conversation David explains why he believes motivation on its own produces what he calls a motivated idiot, how he built the rhythm over roughly a decade, and what happened when he called a rival contractor who was telling the industry he was going to smash him. He also names the line that organizes everything else for him: "no success in this world can account for a failure in the home."
Ryan came into this recording with a headache and a plan to keep it short. That is not how it went, and he says so on air.
A note on the numbers: David cites several statistics during the conversation, including figures on daily thought volume and Monday morning heart attacks. Those are his claims, offered as he understands them.
