Key topicsNumber 14 — Why the First 13 Failures Were the PointAlbert Zbily, an entrepreneur and FIFCO president who moved from macroeconomics and international development into football, reframes failure through the first lesson Albert gives a class: the question is not why Albert failed 13 times, but what those attempts made possible. Albert argues that a fast-food culture trains people to expect instant results when real ventures need patience. Albert's story turns perseverance from a slogan into a sequence. Listeners leave with a sharper way to treat failed attempts as the route to the next workable idea.Second Half — Turning 30 Years in Economics and Diplomacy Into a Global Football FederationAlbert Zbily spent more than 30 years as a macroeconomist and advisor, working with the Canadian Department of Finance, the World Bank, the U.S. Department of State and PricewaterhouseCoopers, before turning his passion for football into a second act. For the past decade Albert has bridged that experience in international development and business with the game, building FIFCO into the world governing body of corporate football. The move was not a break from the first career but a reuse of it: partnership building, change management and economic thinking applied to an amateur sport. Listeners leave with a practical way to see how decades of expertise can power a pivot into the work they love.Home Advantage — How a Corporate World Cup Lets Employees Play for Company and CountryAlbert Zbily, President of FIFCO, the world governing body of corporate football, runs a corporate World Cup that brings employees from around the world onto the football pitch. Many of those players spend most of their working lives behind screens; at the tournament they compete, connect and represent both their companies and their countries. Albert makes the case that this shared pride is a form of employee engagement a company can build on purpose, through team spirit, healthy lifestyles and inter-company networking. Listeners leave knowing how sport can give staff a reason to carry the company name with pride.View all topics →
