Beneath the Noise: Who Are You When the World Stops Telling You Who to Be?

From an early age, we're taught to build an identity around what we do: our career, achievements, relationships, responsibilities and the expectations other people place upon us. But what happens when those identities fall away - or when the life you've successfully built no longer feels aligned with the person you're becoming?

Marvin explores the spiritual side of identity and why stillness can be essential to discovering what is genuinely yours beneath the noise. He shares what his own journey taught him about separating the roles we perform from the person underneath them, becoming grounded in your own truth, and recognising when achievement is coming from alignment versus fear, scarcity or the need for external validation.

Marvin's perspective wasn't developed only through spiritual study or coaching. It emerged through a life spent moving between dramatically different identities and environments - from a turbulent childhood to becoming a Green Beret, serving on six deployments, transitioning into business and Wall Street, and eventually confronting burnout and profound personal change.

For much of that journey, Marvin was exceptionally good at moving forward. His deeper transformation began when he learned to become still.

Marvin Mikle is a former U.S. Army Green Beret, performance coach and founder of Chaos Development whose life and career have been shaped by one question: How do you perform at a high level without losing yourself in the process?

Growing up amid instability in Chicago, Marvin learned to operate in chaos early. He went on to spend more than a decade in Army Special Forces, completing six deployments before being medically retired. He later earned his MBA and transitioned to Wall Street - moving from one intense, high-performance environment into another.

A period of profound personal loss, combined with his own experience of burnout, eventually forced Marvin to confront something achievement had allowed him to avoid: being exceptionally good at pushing forward doesn't always mean you should.

That experience helped shape Chaos Development, his coaching practice for capable, driven people navigating pressure, uncertainty, burnout and major transitions. His work helps people step out of the noise, see what is actually happening and make clearer decisions without losing the ambition and drive that got them there.

Drawing on lessons from Special Forces, business, coaching and his own lived experience, Marvin brings a distinctive perspective to conversations about high performance, burnout, resilience, identity, flow, spirituality and personal development.
