Key topicsWhy turning points are invitations, not endingsEv’s perspective on turning points is rooted in lived experience. She speaks openly about a period where her marriage ended and she became a single mother while rebuilding her life and career at the same time. Those moments taught her that change rarely arrives with clarity or reassurance-it arrives with a decision. Drawing from the experiences that shaped Change Starts with Choice, Ev explains how real transformation unfolds through a series of grounded choices, not a single dramatic leap. What building a real estate career teaches you about choice, pressure, and self-trustEv shares how leading agents through volatile markets revealed the emotional side of decision-making that rarely gets talked about. She explains how fear, overthinking, and waiting for certainty show up just as strongly in property as they do in life. Anchoring this in the themes of Change Starts with Choice, she shows how learning to choose consistently-rather than perfectly-is what sustains both careers and confidence. Why self-help can become another form of avoidanceEndless learning, reflection, and mindset work can feel productive while quietly delaying real change. Ev speaks to people who are tired of abstract advice and “fix yourself” narratives. She offers a grounded alternative focused on choice, follow-through, and practical movement rather than endless preparation. View all topics →

Ev Foster’s work is grounded in a simple but demanding idea: meaningful change begins with a choice—and most people have lost confidence in their ability to make one and stand by it.

That insight didn’t come from theory. It emerged through years of working closely with people who looked capable on the outside but felt quietly stuck on the inside. Through her professional career, including heading up Keller Williams in Scotland, Ev worked with people expected to make decisions under pressure. What she noticed again and again was that the problem usually wasn’t a lack of motivation or insight—it was a breakdown in self-trust. When people stop believing their decisions will hold, they hesitate, outsource their choices, or stay frozen.

Change Starts With Choice grew out of that observation. Rather than focusing on dramatic reinvention or rigid frameworks, Ev’s work centers on rebuilding decision-making from the inside out. The approach is practical and deliberately small: guided prompts, daily micro-moves, and tools that help people notice where they’re avoiding choice—and how to step back into agency without needing everything to be clear first.

To deepen this work, Ev is currently studying toward a Master Diploma in Intuitive Psychology, with graduation expected in mid-2026.

That midlife thought — “Is this it?” — can be easy to dismiss. But often, it’s the first honest signal that something in your life is ready to change.

If you’ve been wondering how to not be scared of change, or questioning the choices we make in life, this conversation meets you right at that edge.

In this episode, I’m joined byEv Foster, author of Change Starts with Choice, to talk about the crossroads many women face in midlife — from midlife career change to the deeper midlife identity shift that often comes with it — and what it takes to rebuild self-trust when the next step isn’t clear.

Ev shares her own turning points — navigating divorce, raising four children, shifting careers, running businesses, and facing financial pressure — and still choosing to move forward. Not perfectly, but with intention.

We talk about burnout in a more useful way, as a sign that something isn’t working, whether that’s overcommitment, constant busyness, or habits that keep you switched on all the time.

Ev also shares how her work has evolved into intuitive psychology, and how building deeper self-trust can help you overcome self doubt, bringing hidden patterns to the surface — fear of judgement, confidence issues, and the identity shifts that come with change.

We also explore her practical sat nav analogy for combining intuition with action, along with her CHOICES framework for navigating change and defining success in your own terms.

If you’ve been feeling that nudge you can’t ignore, this conversation will meet you right there.
